Happy Cinco de Mayo Cabrones!

Happy Cinco de Mayo Cabrones!

Hijole! Ya se me vino encima! Y no preparé nada chingao… La hueva, pues... As I am writing this, I envision the guillotine above my head and the expedited judgment for high treason… For Cinco de Mayo is not the Mexican day of Independence, but the day the Mexicans kicked out the French out of Mexico at the infamous “Bataille de Puebla”.. Caramba, me tenía que tocar a mi… Hopefully I’m now on the right side and with Mexican-American friends to celebrate this glorious day.

If I am ever caught by the French Army, I hope those Mexican-American brothers will come to my rescue: Salba, Malba, Tony Alva, Tommy Guerrero, Stacy Peralta, Paul Rodriguez, Leo Romero, Vanessa Torres, Steve Caballero, Cesario Block Montano, Puropedo, Jesse Martinez, Chico Brenes and the whole crew at DTS or VSA. Thanks guys…

Today marks the date Tommy Guerrero turned pro, 25 years ago. A consistently great contributor towards skateboarding and to the arts overall and always with style… Today is also the day P. Rod released his These Nike Dunk Low Pro SB – Cinco de Mayo with the Mexican flag colors… And today is Josh Nelson’s birthday, although he is not Mexican… Well, nobody’s perfect…
So today, go get some epic enchilada con camarones with rice and beans, with 3 carnitas tacos, ceviche, mole rojo, unas chelas and a big fat margarita for tonight. Don’t forget to play loud Mexican-American music: War, Carlos Santana, Joan Baez, Cypress Hill, Los Lonely Boys, Rage Against the Machine. You can also play good vibes from those Mexican brothers: Café Tacuba, Caifanes, Jaguares, Julieta Venegas, La Maldita Vecindad, Mœnia, Control Machete, Delasónica, Molotov and Maná.

Happy Cinco de Mayo Cabrones!
