King Of Crete at Kona Skatepark

King Of Crete at Kona Skatepark

If you take a look at Wikipedia, you’ll discover that in Greek mythology the King of Crete was Minos, son of Zeus and Europa. Every year he made King Aegeus pick seven men and seven women to go to Daedalus' creation, the labyrinth, to be eaten by The Minotaur. After his death, Minos became a judge of the dead in Hades.

Well, the King Of Crete that the good folks behind Glaceau Vitaminwater will be presenting on November 19th, 2011 has nothing to do with the Minotaur since this is a skateboard contest open to pro and amateur alike. The King Of Crete will be the biggest skate contest Orlando has seen since the DEW TOUR. The contest is called "King of Crete" because you actually have to skate the entire park and you got judged separately in each section. Each skater got two runs. There will be five divisions; Women, Boys, Open Am, Open Pro and Masters. The event will unravel at the Orlando Skatepark located on 400 Festival Way in Orlando. The prize purse is set at $10,000, not bad for local contest. The King Of Crete is presented by The Florida Bowl Riders Cup presents the Vitamin Water. If you are interested in participating, contact the staff at Kona Skatepark.
