Mexico is one of the friendliest places in the world. It is a place where people salute you with a Mi Casa Es Tu Casa when you first meet with them. And you know what? They really mean it! Unfortunately, Mexico is also one of the most corrupt countries of the planet. It is a country where there were more civilian casualties than Irak or Afganistan during the war. Mexico is a country were crime has attained a horrific level never seen in history with people tortured, butchered, burned, beheaded and decapitated, hanged naked from public bridges from just being at the wrong place at the wrong time... It is a place where innocent mass killing is the norm and where you can be thrown in jail for twittering unconfirmed news or killed because you run a blog. This country where the dedazo has supposedly been abolished a decade ago is also the place that feeds USA with

most of its drugs and where it is sometimes safer to be on the Los Narcos side than on the Los Federales side, for Los Narcos are only Narcos but Los Federales have the power of the law and the clout of Los Narcos… It is also a place of great culture and amazing splendor where the Aztecs created the amazing pyramids of Tehotihuacan and the great Tenochtitlan upon the Texcoco lake. What’s best than cruising on a Trajinera in Xochimilco with Mariachi music on the side? Nothing… That’s what I call my paradise… Eventually the Mayas predicted in Mexico that the Armageddon will end the world as we know it in 2012, only one month to go…

But basta con those tergiversations, this is a skateboard blog so we ought to talk about skateboarding.

And that’s where skateboarding enters the picture. Mexico has never been a place where skateboarding is big. I have heard here and there about big backyard ramps in Baja, but that was 20 years ago and so I was surprised when I saw that post from Lars Greiwe related to “a steep kidney shaped replica of a backyard pool with a lot of space to hang out and a bbq right next to it” down in Cuatro Casas, Baja California. The story reminds me more of surfing trips and is more of an adventure than a sesh at a skatepark and that is why it is awesome. It reads like a mini novel and has also reminiscences of Ozzie Ausband’s Blue Tile blog.

So head to http://www.confuzine.com/ blog to read that story.
