|Archer Braun during the Venice Throwdown|
Archer Braun is one the Ams that was invited this year at the Amateur Combi Pool Party set on January 28th at Vans. Since the Vans Combi series started a couple of year ago, the level drastically went up. I know you should not compare the Ams with the Pros and with the Masters but it’s pretty obvious that this new generation of skaters is pushing the limits way beyond what everybody think was possible to do on a skateboard. With all due respect to the masters, some Ams are now so good that they could compete with the masters and somehow land on the podium. On January 28th, the Combi will be the place to watch for sick aerials and breathless new tricks.
Because of that, isTia.Tv is launching a series of interviews with some of the best Ams that will participate to the Amateur Combi Pool Party on January 28th . Those are the guys you’ll see in the mags a couple of years from now.
The first one to be scrutinized is Archer Braun. Here is what Archer has to say…
isTia.Tv: Hometown / Where do you live? Archer Braun: I was born in Ann Arbor, MI but, my family and I have lived in Gainesville, FL. We currently reside in South Pasadena, CA, A.K.A. the best place of all time.
isTia.Tv: When did you start skateboarding? Archer Braun: I got a skateboard for my eighth birthday. I had been lobbying my Dad for one for about half a year so it was incredibly exciting when I obtained one.
isTia.Tv: What is your specialty? Archer Braun: I try to skate everything, but I'm definitely better at skating mini ramps and pools, as opposed to big handrails ha.
isTia.Tv: What are your favorite skateparks? Archer Braun: I love skating where ever I'm at, that's assuming someone can drag me somewhere other than Vans park ha. Some parks that really stand out for me are Culver City, Vans, Etnies, Protrero, Epic, and especially Modern skatepark in MI, Boardz, and New Symerna in FL.
isTia.Tv: Where do you skate? Archer Braun: I skate around the Orange County area alot, at parks like Vans, Etnies. But I also skate at Culver City and Glendale.
isTia.Tv: How many hours do you skate a day? Archer Braun: I skate anywhere from four to eight hours on an average day.
isTia.Tv: How were your parents involved with skateboarding? Archer Braun: In my opinion I have the best Dad of all time. He drives me every where, it's really hard to describe how supportive he is, I'm so grateful. He's completely inclined to let me do what I want to do, so if I wanted to play something random like baseball all the sudden he would be completely behind me.
isTia.Tv: Do you have Sponsors? Archer Braun: Silver Trucks (flow), FKD (flow), Boardz Skatepark, Vicinity Skateshop
isTia.Tv: What are you gonna do to train for the AM Combi Pool Party? Archer Braun: I'm not really training, I'm just going there a lot and having fun.

isTia.Tv: Who do you see in the Podium at the Combi Pool this year? Archer Braun: I don't know… The list of guys is pretty different from last year. I'm really excited to watch all of these guys skate.
isTia.Tv: How have you tried to prepare for the Protec contests in the past & this year? Archer Braun: I decided to go vegan, hahaha. Just kidding I just skate at vans a lot and try new stuff.
isTia.Tv: What was your ranking last year? Archer Braun: Last year I qualified third, and got sixth in finals it was a blast.
isTia.Tv: Have you ever been injured while skatin? Archer Braun: The worse thing I can think of was a little over a year ago right before Halloween. I was skating skatelab and I was incredibly tired. I went to do a backside air in the bowl really high, I like saying I noticed everything except that I was in the air with a skateboard. I clipped and fell straight to my head at flat. I was knocked out, and had an impact seizure. I couldn't skate for two weeks, I'm pretty sure I can say that my helmet saved my life as a thinking human. Glad not to be a vegetable.
isTia.Tv: What have you done in the past 3 months? Archer Braun: Skateboarding, and lots of fun family stuff. We went on a cruise; I was expecting relaxing, sophisticated, wealthy people to be aboard. We were all surprised when it turned into a party boat pretty much.
isTia.Tv: What were the last contests you did? Archer Braun: I did a small contest at North Fontana skatepark recently. It was fun, I was stoked I kind of figured out that roman bowl and got first.
isTia.Tv: What was your best contest of the year? Archer Braun: I went to Chilli Bowl, it was incredible.
Thanks Archer and good luck for Vans!!!
