Best of Street League 2011: Sean Malto

Street League presents the Best Of of our 2011 Champion, Sean Malto. Sean had a very rough and unlikely road to the Championship in New Jersey. After having knee surgery before the start of the 2011 series, he was unable to compete in the first stop in Seattle, Washington. Then, at the second stop in his hometown of Kansas City, MO, Sean came out and had a great couple days of skating – finishing in 4th place. After qualifying for the finals in Arizona, Sean injured his tail bone during practice and was unable to skate in the rest of the contest. This left Sean just out of qualifying for the New Jersey Championship. However, only a couple days before the Championship, Tommy Sandoval, who was the last to qualify to skate in the Championship, injured his ankle while out on the Zero/ DGK Fresh ‘Til Death tour. This rendered Tommy unable to skate in the Championship and Sean, being in 11th place in the overall standings, was the first in line to take his spot. Sean ended up winning in New Jersey and taking home $200,000 dollars, a diamond encrusted ring and Nixon watch, and the title of 2011 Street League Champion.
