The qualifications for the semifinals of the 2012 Hi Vert Jam showed the new generation. Pedro Barros, 16, flew high and the skater was better qualified for the semifinals. Demanding, Pedro said he still needs to improve some details: "I want to add more difficult maneuvers and improve what I did today to get a spot in the final."

Italo Penarrubia, 21, who participates for the first time the Hi Vert Jam, secured second place in the standings. "Today was not our most experienced personnel, but tomorrow they will be. I think what I did wrong that caused my fall today to improve. I have to give at least a three 540. Tomorrow is the day" he added.
The youngest of the event, the American Mitchie Brusco, 15, took third place in the knockout stage. For the first time in Rio, was the joy in person: "I did everything I wanted. Tomorrow, I'll do the same tricks today, but in a different order. I'm enjoying the river, the view and atmosphere are great."

The semifinals

After three busy runs, which had the participation of 25 skaters, ten athletes qualified for the race this Saturday, in which join ten other, pre-sorted. The Oi Vert Jam 2012 is performed in O Square, opposite the beach of Barra da Tijuca, near the post 3. The semifinals started at 13:30 on Saturday, with transmission SporTV. Admission to the event is free.

On Saturday, ten in qualifying ranked join: Bob Burnquist, Ron Gomes, Sandro Dias, Andy Macdonald, Elliot Sloan, Grandpa Edgar, Mishael Simon, Danny Mayer, Renton Millar and Neal Hendrix in contention for a place in the grand final Sunday. The first heat starts at 13:30
