Red Bull Skate Generation ready at Florianopolis, Brazil

Red Bull Skate Generation is an unprecedented competition that brings together amateurs, professionals, masters and legends of skateboarding in Pedro Barros’s own bowl in Florianopolis in Santa Catarina, Brazil. Next April 1 2012, Christian Hosoi, Jeff Grosso, Omar Hassan and Tony Trujillo, among other major sports stars will all be together in Florianópolis, SC to participate in the second edition of the Red Bull Skate Generation. To compete with them, some of the biggest names in Brazil have already confirmed that they will be there. Of course, the newest world champion in bowl history, Pedro Barros and Sandro Dias, among others.

New for this edition is the inclusion of more than one category. Thus, teams no longer have three and four members are replaced. Now, each team will consist of an amateur (the ranking of CBSK), a professional, a master (professionals between 37 and 44 years) and a legend, skaters which already exceeded 44. The contest is part of the World Cup Skateboarding (WCS) and counts toward the general results in bowl riding for 2012.
Among the athletes, the main aim is the coming of Christian Hosoi. In love with Brazil - so he named his most famous maneuver Christ Air in honor of Christ the Redeemer - he returns to the country after more than ten years.
Hosoi is one of the most talented skaters of all time. In the 80’s, he was considered for many as an unbeatable skater, but then started facing competition from names like Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero and Mark "Gator" Rogowski.
But the American does not have it easy in the competition. Speaking only for foreigners, it will have opponents - or partners - the level of Alex Perelson, considered one of the biggest names in skateboarding world - and Omar Hassan, one of the younger men in the world to become a sports legend.
The Red Bull Skate Generation takes place in three days (30 and March 31 and April 1). The first two days will be dedicated to training and qualifying, and the Grand Final takes place on Sunday (April 1). The competition is sponsored by Citroën and Vans, Volcom's co-sponsorship and support Evoke and Drop Dead.
isTia.Tv will cover the contest so be sure to come back in another post during the contest or search for “Red Bull Skate Generation” in the search box.
