Rio Vert Jam 2012

On March 2, 3 and 4 2012, the World Cup Skateboarding (WCS), organized the Rio Vert jam 2012. The contest was officially launched a couple of years ago and it has now become a tradition. It is the first vert contest of the season in Brazil and it is increasingly competitive. This year, the contest took place in a massive half pipe mounted on the Barra da Tijuca, west of Rio de Janeiro, with the sport's biggest names gathered in the square.
Sandro Dias 'Mineirinho', Edgar Vovô, Pedro Barros, Adam Taylor, Ítalo Penarrúbia, Diego Bigode and Nilo Peçanha were among the confirmed contestants in this year. The legendary Andy Macdonald, the very young Mitchie Brusco (Megaramp champ) and current champion Marcelo Bastos were also present to increase the competition for gold in the first year in WCS.
The Rio Vert Jam prize purse was U.S. $ 20,000 in prizes, including $ 7,000 for first place, U.S. $ 4000 for second and $ 3000 for third. The half pipe mounted in the arena was 18m wide by 4m high with two rolls in, making it challenging to ramp up even for the more experienced skaters. In the championship itself, the event also gave an award to present with a championship best trick, always a high point in vertical skateboarding championships.
