The masses were gathering south of the pier to witness this year's U.S. Open, which also included Coastal Carnage and Damn Am HB.
The Coastal Carnage invite-only, jam-format pro/am competition was followed by a best trick contest where Aaron “Jaws” Homoki won first place with a kickflip melon grab to tail on the shark.
Ben Raybourn is among the new generation of skaters who dominate Converse Coastal Carnage including Converse’s own Tom Remillard and Ben Raemers, Curren Caples, Grayson Fletcher and Robbie Russo.
After two days of contest and ten qualifying rounds, Ben Raybourn took the top prize of $20,000, with Ben Hatchell taking $15,000 for second place and Curren Caples taking $10,000 for third. Homoki won $3,000 for best trick.
