If you've heard of Las Vegas, you've probably heard of the name Maloof. I mean, Maloof Money Cup... You know... That rich family that owns The Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and stuff. Well, they're bringing excitement of a different kind to the South African shores. The Maloof Money Cup 2012 is on its way to Kimberley in the Northern Cape for the second year running, from the 28th to the 30th of September, and will showcase skating at its absolute finest as local and international contestants compete for prizes totalling R4 million!
In this case, it's what happens in Kimberley stays in Kimberley because, after an extremely successful inaugural Maloof Money Cup event last year, the Maloof Money Cup will be coming back to South Africa for at least another 5 years, so best you get your DC's ready and your swagger on next to The Big Hole, yo!
“We were absolutely overwhelmed by the positive reaction from the South African public during the first event in 2011. The government and people of the Northern Cape Province embraced the concept and we were amazed by the incredible hospitality," said Joe Maloof. "We were especially proud of the reception we received from the local skateboarding community and the wonderful natural talent and enthusiasm expressed by skateboarders across the country."
