The Musée d'Art Contemporain de Bordeaux (also known as CACP) has celebrated the last day of the Michel Majerus long ramp with 10,000 balloons . The construction of the ramp took more than a month, with breaks of course, but to see the ramp done is quite thrilling.
You've probably heard of this ramp in isTia. The size is huge: over forty meters wide. The CAPC Museum of Contemporary Art was hosting a retrospective of the artist Michel Majerus from Luxembourg.
It is true that the ramp was disproportionately large: the gigantic paintings and installations are the niche of the deceased artist. They are the numbers of 35, another iconic work, made in 1998 Reminder that exposes large canvases with multiple colors figurative or not.
The museum aims through this exhibition became a meeting place between the works of Michel Majerus and the public, urban culture and living.
Through the ramp, “If you are dead, so it is”, the artist wanted a new dimension as space navigation and traffic surface or screen.
To celebrate the French vendanges, the ramp was outfitted with 10,000 black balloons designed to represent the grapes that grow around Bordeaux and that make the best wine worldwide. A ta santé!!
